Eco-Island Building Camp 2026
Professional knowledge-sharing, community building and charity through a unique sustainable timber-building project.
On 4–6 September 2026, tradespeople, manufacturers and volunteers came together at the waterside site in Folyás to build a premium transportable eco-cabin, learn side by side and support a meaningful cause.
8,000 m² of nature beside the water
Eco-Island is an approximately 8,000 m² site in Folyás, embraced by the Király-ér watercourse and the Nyugati Main Canal. Nearly 3,000 m² of woodland offers shade and space to relax. The waterfront and surrounding countryside provide an unusual setting for practical learning, shared building projects and time spent together outdoors.

The main project: a charitable timber cabin
During the three-day 2026 building camp, experts and participants worked together on a premium, modular eco-cabin. The charitable plan is to auction the completed building and donate the full profit to the Bátor Tábor Foundation, supporting children living with serious illnesses. The building project and its completion work continue beyond the original camp dates.

Designed for transport: the cabin is planned as modular elements that can be lifted and moved in stages, without relying on an unusually oversized load.
Wood-fibre insulation: participants discovered practical approaches to natural insulation, including machine-blown wood-fibre systems.
Airtightness and windtightness: the programme explored precise detailing, moisture control and reliable building-envelope connections.
Timber cladding and fastening: the project includes distinctive façade treatments and innovative timber fastening methods.
A real outdoor building camp — not a luxury retreat
Eco-Island is about working together without turning the day into an exhausting shift. The 2026 camp combined construction, technical discussions, new friendships and relaxed evenings outdoors. People could pitch a tent, spend time among the trees, enjoy the waterside setting and talk around the campfire. The informal atmosphere was just as important as the practical learning.

What participants experienced
Three days of hands-on learning: timber construction, fastening methods, insulation, air- and windtightness, and demonstrations by experienced tradespeople and suppliers.
Simple on-site infrastructure: space for tents and basic access to power, with practical arrangements suited to an outdoor workshop rather than a hotel.
Shared meals and conversations: breakfasts, optional prepared meals, open-air cooking and plenty of time to exchange ideas.
Professional connections: meeting builders, designers, product specialists, instructors and supporters around a real building project.
2026 dates, meals and practical information — event archive
The original building camp took place on 4–6 September 2026, with some participants arriving on 3 September to set up camp and get acquainted. The event was designed around practical work, outdoor accommodation and affordable, optional group catering. Vegan and food-intolerance-friendly meal options were included in the plans.
As a historical reference, participants were advised to bring a tent, sleeping mat and sleeping bag, a power extension lead, durable closed footwear, warm layers, rain protection and insect repellent. The original event offered both day attendance and full-camp participation options. These dates and ticket arrangements refer to the completed 2026 event; they are not current booking offers.
Our contribution to Bátor Tábor
The Bátor Kabin project brings together education and charitable action. Once the cabin is finished and sold through the planned public auction, the intention is to transfer 100% of the profit to the Bátor Tábor Foundation. The aim is to turn the time, expertise and support contributed by the community into tangible help for children dealing with serious medical challenges.

Manufacturers, suppliers and professionals: join a real project
For a manufacturer or distributor of construction products, this project offers much more than a logo on a website. Products are demonstrated in real installation conditions, in the hands of craftspeople and builders. The resulting technical photography and video documentation can help communicate the products’ practical use, subject to the agreed rights and permissions.

The next chapter: workshops with independent organisers
Eco-Island is not limited to one organiser or one construction method. It is a shared place where guest instructors and independent teams can offer practical courses, including timber construction, building-envelope detailing and specialist construction workshops. New programme dates will be published when confirmed.
