The 2026 Bátor Kabin Project
A modular timber building developed through collective design, engineering and hands-on construction at the 2026 Eco-Island Building Camp.
More than a building
Designers, structural engineers, craftspeople, industry partners and enthusiastic participants came together to learn from one another and put sustainable construction methods into practice. The project supports the work of the Bátor Tábor foundation for children living with serious illnesses.
Designed to be moved and reassembled
The modular construction concept uses main sections approximately 2.59 × 5.59 metres in size, designed with transport, lifting and reassembly in mind. The structure is supported on ground screws, avoiding conventional concrete foundations at the temporary site.
Construction systems and partners
The project brought together timber-frame construction, engineered connections, wood-fibre insulation, airtightness and moisture-control systems, surface treatments and practical demonstrations.
